What is The English-Speaking Union?
Founded in London in 1918, the English-Speaking Union is the oldest established charity dedicated to the premise that understanding is created by effective communication.
The ESU is a charity registered in the UK, registered charity number 273136. It was established by Royal Charter with Her Majesty The Queen as patron and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh as President. The administration of ESU programmes is organised by the international headquarters at Dartmouth House, 37 Charles Street, London, W1, UK. The Director-General and the staff at Dartmouth House are the main point of contact for any general enquiries.
The ESU sponsors scholarship and exchanges, educational programmes providing the effective use of English, and a wide range of international and cultural events. Part of its work is supporting the activities of a growing network of autonomous English-Speaking Unions which currently exist in over 50 countries worldwide.
The ESU of Spain is part of the worldwide network of English-Speaking Unions and is recognised and supported by the English-Speaking Union itself.
By joining the ESU of Spain you will have a chance to participate in regular events at local and national level and to make your own contribution to global friendship and understanding through the international programmes organised by the ESU.
Membership of the ESU of Spain will enable you to share a common interest in education, language, international and cultural affairs with members of English-Speaking Unions worldwide.
